The Rabbit Problem Revisited
نویسنده
چکیده
The sequence obtained to solve this problem—the celebrated Fibonacci sequence 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, ...—appears in a large number of natural phenomena (see [2], [6]) and has natural applications in computer science (see [1]). Here we reformulate the rabbit problem to recover two generalizations of the Fibonacci sequence presented elsewhere (see [7], [8]). Then, using a fixed-point technique, we present an elementary proof of the convergence of the sequences of ratios of two successive generalized Fibonacci numbers. The limits of these sequences will be called here generalized golden numbers. Finally, we reconsider electrical schemes to generate these ratios (see also [3]).

SOLVING FUZZY LINEAR PROGRAMMING PROBLEMS WITH LINEAR MEMBERSHIP FUNCTIONS-REVISITED
Recently, Gasimov and Yenilmez proposed an approach for solving two kinds of fuzzy linear programming (FLP) problems. Through the approach, each FLP problem is first defuzzified into an equivalent crisp problem which is non-linear and even non-convex. Then, the crisp problem is solved by the use of the modified subgradient method. In this paper we will have another look at the earlier defuzzifi...
متن کاملThe Dying Rabbit Problem Revisited
In this paper we study a generalization of the Fibonacci sequence in which rabbits are mortal and take more that two months to become mature. In particular we give a general recurrence relation for these sequences (improving work by Hoggat and Lind) and we calculate explicitly their general term (extending work by Miller). In passing, and as a technical requirement, we also study the behavior o...

متن کاملQUICKSELECT Revisited
We give an overview of the running time analysis of the random divide-and-conquer algorithm FIND or QUICKSELECT. The results concern moments, distribution of FIND’s running time, the limiting distribution, a stochastic bound and the key: a stochastic fixed point equation.
